[Release] 3.10 - Inbox & Notifications, Chat

With the introduction of Release 3.10, we're improving the way you communicate, moving away from traditional text, emails, and external platforms like MS Teams or Whatsapp.

This new release is designed to make your work management and collaboration seamless and more efficient than ever before.

Getting Started with the New Features

To activate your notifications for email, inbox, and chat, simply head over to the top right corner, click on your profile icon, and select "account settings."

You'll see the features you're allowed to access; anything beyond your permissions will appear greyed out.

From there, you can pick your preferred methods of staying informed.


Introducing Job, Invoice, & Purchase Order Watchers

Look out for new icons in every record, especially the watcher icon.

This feature lets you manually add key stakeholders to any job, ensuring they're updated in real-time as actions occur.

We've also implemented default rules to automatically assign watchers to jobs, invoices, and POs for certain activities, ensuring crucial updates never miss the mark.

Real-time Job Chat

We've borrowed the best aspects of our favorite real-time chat tools to bring you an integrated chat feature within Base. Now, you can have instant conversations with clients, vendors, and internal teams without ever leaving the platform. Opt-in for chat message notifications to be sent directly to your chosen method (inbox or email) and enjoy streamlined communication across all fronts.

Stay Up-to-Date with Notifications

Our new real-time inbox feature ensures you're always informed as changes happen. From work progress, invoice approvals to cost reconciliations, you'll receive notifications directly in Base, provided you've enabled the correct settings and are added as a watcher on relevant records.


Setting Up Clients in Your Base Organization

If you haven't already, now is the perfect time to add your clients to your Base organization. This simple process gives your clients a dedicated view of the work you've done for them, streamlining their approval process. As a Base admin, you can onboard your clients in just a few steps.

  • There is now an x icon on search bars to allow users to clear searches with one click

  • Fixed an issue where users could not archive transactions within jobs
  • Fixed a bug causing tabs in the organizations settings to be moved over
  • Fixed an issue where the billing packets errored when pushing to QuickBooks
  • Fixed a bug where clearing search filters causes archived records to show
  • Fixed a bug causing AR invoices to be pushed twice to QuickBooks

CSV Import Auto Matching Headers! πŸ”ƒ

When importing excel sheets, the headers will now auto match if they are the same as the table you are importing to!

Set a Default View on the Dashboard! πŸ“Š

Users with dashboard access can now set a default view for their dashboard!

Other Improvements

Made some improvements to the company details page:

  • The page no longer crashes occasionally
  • The cost, profit, and revenue columns now sum correctly on the jobs table
  • Page numbers now show correctly on the table
  • The jobs table for the company now shows unarchived jobs only
  • Fixed errors with the search function
  • The organization navigator now closes when going to organization details

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue causing invoices not to appear when selecting a batch
  • Fixed an issue causing 400 errors when editing jobs
  • Fixed an issue not allowing users to upload pdf files into a job
  • Fixed an issue not allowing users to edit Purchase Orders
  • Fixed some errors with the Quickbooks integration
  • Fixed a bug that caused all allocations on an invoice line to be archived when a Purchase Order was archived
  • Fixed a bug where the "is blank" filter option was not working
  • Fixed an issue where .jpg files were causing the billing packet generation to error

Hi there, here's a look at official release 3.7!

New Dashboard! πŸ“¨

Users can now see outstanding charges or expenses, as well as open jobs!

We look forward to adding new information to this dashboard. The current information that can be found on this one includes:

  • Active jobs by member
  • Jobs opened
  • Jobs Closed
  • Charges and expenses
  • Outstanding Charges and expenses
  • Profit

All of these metrics can be adjusted to different time frames

Please note that if you need to retrieve documents from the old dashboard, a link can be found at the bottom left of the new dashboard

Easily Create Data with Bulk Importing!

Excel files can now be uploaded and mapped to import large amounts of data! This is currently available on the following tables, but we're open to making it available to more in the future:

  • Companies
  • Chart of Accounts
  • Charge Codes

New Date Picker Component!

There are now quick options for picking due dates like 15, 30, 45, and 60 days from the current day!

View Record History!

Want to see who's made changes to your job? Record History now shows recent changes for almost every record!

This can be accessed by clicking the dropdown on any record/job/document within Base

Quickbooks Integration!

Need more accounting options? Base is now fully compatible with Quickbooks!

This can be set up by organization admins within the apps tab of the organization's settings

Toggle Invoice Due Dates to Shift on Approval!

Don't want your due dates being shifted after an invoice is approved? You can toggle it off in your organization's settings!

This feature is within our "General" tab that we've added to organization settings. We would love to expand it with other preferences, and are open to feedback.

Document Custom Field Connection

You can now pull custom fields into documents by filling out the "Field ID" field when creating a custom field, then adding that to your document (please note that we've temporarily disabled this feature due to an issue)

Custom Document Template Improvement

We have improved the default document templates to be more useful out-of-the-box by allowing organization admins to add and customize their banking information. This is managed in a new modal in the doc templates tab in org settings.

Other Improvements

  • Job description now carries over when duplicating a job
  • Charge codes now say whether they are Sales or Expenses
  • The AP allocations modal now has pagination to show more records

  • Fix 504 errors that cause the system to crash
  • Fix the 500 error when using the "is blank" filter on the AP tables
  • Fix the issue where an AP credit note would be applied to an archived expenses
  • Fix an issue causing an invited member not to be able to push accounting documents
  • Fix an error when adding an existing custom field to a table in a different module
  • Fix an issue causing permissions to reset when resetting your password
  • Fix an issue where not all charge codes would display when editing a charge
  • Fix 500 error when searching for companies with a specific number format

Better Organization Management is Here! πŸ‘©β€πŸ’Ό

It's now easier to access your current Organization's settings and create a new Organization from the Organization Management menu

See Archived Users in an Organization! βœ…

When viewing an organization, you can now see archived users

Other Improvements

  • The icon to relate an expense is now a "+" symbol
  • Table pagination and "rows per page" are now stored in the URL. These settings will persist if you navigate forward/backward in the browser, and will persist if you share the URL with others
  • Archived allocations can now be viewed from the Purchase Order table within a job using the "view allocations" dropdown
  • When merging documents, if a document is locked or password protected, the error will say which document is the issue

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug where the "does not contain" filter was not working correctly
  • Fixed a bug where archived charges would change the numbering of active lines when shown

  • Fixed a bug not allowing users to update document templates without refreshing the page

Add Notes to an Invoice Batch πŸ“

When batching invoices, notes can now be added that will be on every invoice in the batch!

Approver Info Added to Invoice Documents βœ…

You can now see approval information on an invoice when it is generated!

This will require a change to your document templates - we'll be reaching out to organization owners to help get this configured.

Other Improvements

  • The status of the vendor invoice will be shown on the expense lines!
  • When a job in the "Requested" status gets a PO issued to it, the status of the job will now change to "Open"
  • In the AP Credit Notes table, the "Amount" header is now labelled "Total Amount"
  • There is now a button to archive charge codes

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug that allowed dates in the wrong order when generating reports
  • Fixed a bug that let user allocate a 0 amount to an invoice
  • Fixed a bug where the Month or Year could not be selected when dropping accruals
  • Fixed a bug that caused organizations to show the wrong domain

We're going to be keeping track of our releases with regular notes - here's a look at our first official release, 3.1!

Ability to See Archived Jobs πŸ—‘

When looking at the Jobs table, there is now an option at the top right to show archived jobs! You can also view any archived records within a job too (charges, expenses, invoices, etc).

We'll be rolling this functionality out to other tables across Base in the coming weeks.

Credit Notes are Now Editable from the Table πŸ“

Credit notes can now be edited using the edit button found in the table row

Other Improvements

Adding 0'd out lines to an invoice

  • Users can now include 0'd out lines in an invoice for more context.

Job Profitability Improvement

  • Job profitability within the job will now include dropped accruals

  • Fixed a bug that caused the client contact not to pull into a quote after editing it
  • Fixed a bug to show a better error when trying to push an AP invoice to Xero when the company is archived
  • Fixed a bug where the lines in a duplicated job would not be in the same order or not duplicated at all.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented users from relating an expense to a transaction after the invoice had been added
  • Fixed the bug where users could not filter certain tables or create batches
  • Fixed the bug preventing users from creating a credit note. Errors thrown will also be more clear when creating them.
  • Fixed a rounding issue preventing users from allocating to invoices
